Ophthalmology Department

The Department of Ophthalmology is the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, and is an important part of the hospital’s “Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Discipline Group”; the Department of Ophthalmology is currently responsible for the “Jinming National Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Studio”, Beijing’s “Specialized Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology”, and the “Key Laboratory-Allergic Disease Center” "Drug Prevention and Treatment Research Center", "Hospital-Level Diabetes Key Experimental Center" and other work. It was once the presiding unit of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is currently the presiding unit of the Eye Care Technical Committee of the Chinese Traditional Chinese Medicine Association. It is also a member of the Ophthalmology Teaching Alliance of Hospitals Directly Affiliated to the National Health Commission. There are 21 doctors in the department, 60% of whom have doctorate degrees or above. The team includes 1 nationally renowned veteran Chinese medicine practitioner, 1 subject leader, 2 doctoral supervisors, and 2 master's degree supervisors. At present, the department is divided into 8 sub-specialties, which conduct research on complex fundus lesions, ocular trauma, optic nerve diseases, immune eye diseases, pediatric eye diseases, glaucoma, optical diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, etc.The department is a training center for doctoral students of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and master's degree of Capital University of Medical Sciences. It is responsible for the teaching work of Peking University School of Medicine, Union Medical College, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University and many other universities, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, teacher-to-teacher teaching, teaching of visiting students, and training of resident doctors. It has undertaken and participated in many national and ministerial-level research projects. In the past five years, it has won the second prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards once and the third prize once. The department has 30 beds, a supporting and complete ophthalmic function examination room and a standardized clinical path of integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine. In addition to being able to carry out surgical treatment of complex fundus lesions, complex eye injuries, full femtosecond laser and excimer laser myopia correction, in recent years, it has gradually formed a "condition based on advanced examination instruments; based on precise ophthalmic imaging operations and film reading and analysis technology; in terms of integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, relying on the national-level veteran Chinese medicine studio, Beijing Chinese Ophthalmology Specialty Diagnosis and Treatment Specialty and neuro-ophthalmology joint clinic, a lot of work has been done. It has developed a number of traditional Chinese ophthalmology technologies, and has great characteristics and advantages in the integration of Chinese and Western medicine.For fundus diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, fundus vascular lesions, fundus immune lesions, and dry eye disease, which Chinese medicine is good at treating, or to form systematic diagnosis and treatment standards with clinically relevant Chinese medicine techniques, give full play to the synergistic advantages of Chinese and Western medicine, from disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education At the same time, we have taken the lead in compiling high-quality evidence-based guidelines for clinical medical units, adhering to the combination of innovation and inheritance, and the integration of medical teaching and research. Through construction in recent years, a key specialty of traditional Chinese medicine ophthalmology has been initially established with outstanding advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, distinctive characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment, equal emphasis on traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and a demonstration and driving role.
