The Department of Neurosurgery of China-Japan Friendship Hospital was established in 1984. It is one of the earliest specialties to carry out microneurosurgery in China. It is currently a characteristic medical discipline of the National Health Commission and a characteristic clinical department of the capital. The department has always adhered to the development policy of innovation and enterprising. After more than 30 years of development, it has formed the characteristics of functional neurosurgery as its specialty and minimally invasive neurosurgery as its main development direction. It has advantages in skull base surgery, cranial nerve and peripheral nerve surgery, spasticity surgery, neuromodulation and perioperative electrophysiological monitoring. Currently, the director of the Department of Neurosurgery is Professor Yu Yanbing, the deputy directors of the department are Zhang Li and Liu Jiang, and the head nurse is Zuo Ying. There are 3 chief physicians, 6 deputy chief physicians, 8 attending physicians and 2 resident physicians. There are 8 people with doctorate degrees, and all teachers have received formal training. In addition, there are 35 professional nursing staff and 2 technical staff. Outpatient clinic and ward settings: Special outpatient clinics for cranial nerve diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pituitary tumors, spinal cord, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease. The Department of Neurosurgery has an independent neurological intensive care unit with a total of 150 open beds. 1 neurosurgery laboratory and 1 neuroendoscopic skull base anatomy laboratory.Introduction to diagnosis and treatment equipment: The Neurosurgery Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital has a large number of advanced medical equipment, such as 3 fully digital neurosurgery dedicated operating rooms, 1 hybrid operating room, 1 surgical robot, 6 surgical microscopes (including two ZEISSKINEVO900, two PENTERO-900), 4 sets of craniotomy power systems, 1 variable-frequency scalpel, 1 contact laser knife, 2 surgical navigation systems, 2 intracranial pressure monitors, 2 neuroendoscopes, 2 multifunctional stereotaxic surgical planning systems, 1 ultrasonic aspirator, 2 intraoperative real-time ultrasounds, 3 multifunctional neuroelectrophysiological monitors, 2 multi-channel video EEG units, 1 movable CT unit, 2 DSA units, etc.Features of Department Diagnosis and Treatment: The Neurosurgery Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital has sub-specialty treatment groups such as skull base surgery, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral neurosurgery, spine and spinal cord diseases, movement disorders, spasticity surgery, neuroendoscopy, etc. On the basis of comprehensively carrying out diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently-occurring neurosurgical diseases such as craniocerebral spinal cord injuries, tumors, and cerebrovascular diseases, Qiaoqiao The surgical treatment of cerebellar angle tumors, cranial nerve diseases, spasticity and movement disorders, peripheral nerve diseases, refractory epilepsy and other diseases has formed its own characteristics and advantages. At present, the number of patients treated per year is nearly 3,000, the annual outpatient volume reaches 14,000, the bed utilization rate reaches 99%, and the annual operation volume exceeds 3,300 times. The Neurosurgery Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital has always adhered to the development policy of innovation and enterprising. After more than 30 years of development, it has formed the characteristics of functional neurosurgery as its specialty and precision neurosurgery as its main development direction. It has advantages in skull base surgery, cranial nerve and peripheral nerve surgery, spasticity surgery, nerve regulation, perioperative electrophysiological monitoring, etc. It is the largest cranial neurosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery and spasticity surgery center in China.Breakthroughs have also been made in the surgical treatment of difficult cases of routine neurosurgery diseases. Microsurgical total resection of giant tumors in the cerebellopontine angle area and functional preservation and reconstruction of the facial and auditory nerves, total resection of giant craniopharyngioma, surgical resection of petroclival tumors through a modified subtemporal approach, transoropharyngeal clival tumor surgery, and transinterhemispheric-corpus callosum surgery have been carried out. Surgery for intracranial tumors, total resection of tumors in the cavernous sinus, total resection of intramedullary tumors in the high cervical spinal cord and lamina reduction, surgery for brainstem tumors, total resection of tumors in the atlanto-occipital region through presigmoid sinus and far lateral approaches, reoperation for relapsed and refractory myelomeningocele, microsurgery for complex tethered cord syndrome, surgery and comprehensive treatment of gliomas with simultaneous radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In terms of surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, multiple methods such as endovascular intervention, microsurgery, intraoperative real-time ultrasound monitoring, and fluorescence imaging are used to comprehensively treat cerebrovascular diseases. Neuroendoscopy is used to treat hydrocephalus, brain tumors, ventriculitis, subdural abscesses and hematomas, pituitary adenomas, anterior skull base and lateral skull base tumors, and endoscopic therapy is introduced in operations such as MVD, lumbosacral SPR, and Foerster-Dandy surgery. Existing specialty clinics include: cranial nerve diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pituitary tumors, spinal cord, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.Scientific research achievements of the department: The main scientific research directions of neurosurgery include: basic and clinical research on diabetic peripheral neuropathy, molecular biological mechanisms of the occurrence and development of glioma, and refractory epilepsy. In recent years, he has successively undertaken the key research projects of the National Ministry of Science and Technology during the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the 973 Science and Technology Plan Project, the Local Development Fund of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Marine Science Research Plan, the Special Medical Discipline Construction Fund of the Ministry of Health, the key scientific research projects of the Ministry of Health, the Capital Medical Development Fund, and the Capital Special Clinic. It has carried out more than 20 projects including bed medicine technology development research projects, China-Japan Hospital Specialty Construction Fund, China-Japan Hospital key scientific research projects, etc., and has received more than 30 million yuan in funding. In recent years, it has published more than 300 papers in core journals, more than 60 SCI papers, and has edited or participated in the editing of more than 20 monographs. Teaching situation of the department: Neurosurgery is a doctoral training site for Peking University School of Medicine and Peking Union Medical College, and has a postdoctoral mobile station. Currently, there are 2 doctoral supervisors and 3 master supervisors, more than 30 graduate students have been trained, and 8 are in research. It trains nearly 20 advanced doctors from various places every year, and has hosted more than 10 national-level continuing education projects in recent years, laying a solid foundation for ensuring the quality of teaching. Our department is one of the first training bases for neurosurgery specialists in the country, with 3 people trained and 1 person in training. Honors received by the department: Neurosurgery has won the second prize of the Ministry of Health's Science and Technology Progress Award, the third prize of the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award, the third prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the 4th China Association for Science and Technology Outstanding Paper Award, Wang Zhongcheng Chinese Neurosurgeon Annual Award, the 2009 National Women's Contributor Civilized Post, the 2011 National Advanced Individual for High-Quality Nursing Service, the 2012 National High-Quality Nursing Service Demonstration Ward and other awards or honors.
