The Cardiovascular Surgery Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital was established in 1984. The current department leader is Director Ye Zhidong. In the early days of the department, under the leadership of Professor Zhi Qihua, the first department director, it mainly carried out surgical treatment of adult heart valve disease and congenital heart disease. In the 1980s, director Wang Fenglin took the lead in performing coronary artery bypass surgery under extracorporeal circulation in the country. In the 1990s, he was the first to perform coronary artery bypass surgery under extracorporeal circulation (with a beating heart) in the country. In the late 1990s, the third department director, Associate Professor Liu Peng While continuously expanding its original field of cardiac surgery, the hospital has newly developed the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular diseases, introduced foreign advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat varicose veins of the lower limbs, and carried out "carotid endarterectomy" to treat carotid artery stenosis and prevent ischemic stroke. It has also perfectly integrated the fields of cardiac surgery and vascular surgery to carry out "coronary artery bypass grafting" and "internal carotid artery endarterectomy" surgeries at the same time. In December 2016, "Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy" (PEA) was successfully carried out to treat chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Currently, more than 100 surgeries have been performed, and the quality and quantity rank among the best in the country. At the beginning of 2019, Director Ye Zhidong carried out the most advanced minimally invasive technology for the treatment of aortic valve disease (TAVR) and performed TIPS interventional surgery on patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension at the beginning of 2020, which filled the gap in this diagnosis and treatment technology at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital. At the same time, Director Ye Zhidong brought the minimally invasive technology of vascular surgery to the extreme and carried out many minimally invasive treatments for complex thoracic, abdominal aorta, supraarch artery diseases, etc. The director of the department is Ye Zhidong, the deputy director of the department is Zhen Yanan, and the head nurse is Zhou Jin. There are 2 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 7 attending physicians, 2 resident physicians, 1 technician, 1 associate researcher, 17 nurses, and 1 department secretary. The doctors in the department all have graduate degrees or above. Outpatient clinics and ward settings: Outpatient clinics are open every Monday to Friday, with a hemangioma and vascular malformation clinic (every Tuesday morning), a vascular access clinic for dialysis (every Tuesday afternoon), and a minimally invasive lower limb varicose veins clinic (every Tuesday morning). Expert clinic (every Tuesday morning and Friday morning); a total of 40 inpatient beds, including 2 intensive care beds, and a cardiovascular center research room. Introduction to diagnostic and treatment equipment: Equipped with an advanced hybrid operating room (DSA imaging machine) capable of performing complex cardiac and vascular surgeries; It is equipped with ultrasonic equipment, IABP, ECMO, etc. Features of department diagnosis and treatment: The annual operation volume of the department is nearly 1,800 cases. The operations cover the main surgical procedures of cardiac surgery, as well as all vascular surgeries and minimally invasive interventional treatments such as arteries, veins, vascular malformations, dialysis access, and interventional embolization: 1. Coronary artery surgery: Carry out beating coronary artery bypass surgery, and is especially good at simultaneous carotid endarterectomy during coronary artery bypass surgery. 2. Surgical and interventional treatment of carotid artery stenosis: Carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stent implantation are used to treat severe carotid artery stenosis and partial chronic carotid artery occlusion to prevent cerebral infarction.3. Pulmonary artery thromboendarterectomy: Jointly carry out multidisciplinary collaboration with respiratory, anesthesia, radiology, etc. to establish a pulmonary embolism and pulmonary vascular disease team of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital to treat chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension 4. Tips Surgery: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) reduces portal vein pressure in a minimally invasive way and is used to treat a series of serious complications caused by portal hypertension, such as esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding, refractory pleural and ascites, etc. It can also treat Budd-Chiari syndrome and sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, etc. 5. Valve replacement and congenital heart disease surgery: Carry out aortic valve and mitral valve replacement and transfemoral/transapical minimally invasive aortic valve implantation (TAVR) to treat aortic valve stenosis and insufficiency. At the same time, surgical treatment of various common congenital heart diseases is carried out. 6. Surgery and minimally invasive treatment of aortic lesions: treatment of various thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, aortic ulcers, and inter-abdominal hematomas, such as ascending aorta root replacement, full arch replacement, and thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm stent placement. 7. Comprehensive treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations: The department has developed a comprehensive treatment method featuring electrochemical therapy, combined with interventional embolization and local drug injection, to treat various vascular malformations, such as venous malformations, arterial malformations, lymphatic malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, capillary malformations, etc. 8. Comprehensive treatment of peripheral vascular disease: Comprehensive treatment of peripheral vascular disease using interventional, surgical, and hybrid treatment methods, especially minimally invasive treatment and surgical treatment of lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic foot, subclavian artery occlusive disease, vertebral artery stenosis, and renal artery stenosis. 9. Great saphenous varicose vein surgery: application of multiple comprehensive minimally invasive treatment methods such as laser, radiofrequency, peeling, TriVex rotation, and sclerotherapy. 10. Establishment and maintenance of vascular access for dialysis in uremic patients: Carry out the establishment of autologous vascular access, graft vascular access and special complex dialysis access.11. Carry out various interventional treatments for bleeding, hemorrhage and thromboembolism. Existing specialty clinics: Hemangiomas and vascular malformations (every Tuesday morning: Dr. Fan Xueqiang). Dialysis vascular access clinic (every Tuesday afternoon: Dr. Yang Yuguang). Minimally invasive varicose veins of the lower limbs (every Tuesday morning: Dr. Chen Jie). Scientific research achievements of the department: The department has successively cooperated with Southwestern Medical Center in the United States, the University of Dusseldorf in Germany, Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Beijing Anzhen Hospital to conduct a series of research on the basic and clinical prevention and treatment of arteriosclerotic diseases, and has won 6 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 Ministry of Science and Technology "863" project, and national science and technology support It has 1 project, 1 international cooperation project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and more than 20 projects such as the Beijing Natural Science Foundation and the National Key Laboratory Cooperation Project. It has a scientific research funding of nearly 10 million yuan, published more than 30 SCI papers, more than 130 domestic core journal articles, authored 5 monographs, participated in the editing of 15 monographs, and obtained 2 patents. Teaching situation of the department: The department undertakes the clinical teaching tasks of Union Medical College and Peking University School of Medicine. As a teaching hospital for Peking University School of Medicine, China Medical University, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, China-Japan Friendship Hospital is responsible for the teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students as well as the base training of resident doctors. The department is one of the first batch of peripheral vascular interventional training bases in the country, and has accepted more than 200 training doctors so far. The department has won honors: In 2016, the department won the title of "Advanced Group of China-Japan Friendship Hospitals".
