BeijingFriendshipHospitalaffiliatedtoCapitalMedicalUniversitywasfoundedin1952asBeijingSovietRedCrossHospital.Itwasthefirstlarge-scalecomprehensivehospitalestablishedbythePartyandthegovernmentafterthefoundingofNewChina.
Intheearlydaysofthehospital,MaoZedong,ZhouEnlai,LiuShaoqi,ZhuDeandotherrevolutionariesoftheoldergenerationinscribedtheirownwordsforthehospital,andChairmanMaoZedonginscribed"reducethepeople'sdiseasesandimprovethepeople'shealth".
InMarch1957,theSovietgovernmentofficiallyhandedoverthehospitaltoourgovernment,andPremierZhouEnlaicametothehospitaltoparticipateinthehandoverceremony.In1970,PremierZhoupersonallynamedBeijingFriendshipHospital.
After70yearsofdevelopment,theBeijingFriendshipHospitalaffiliatedtotheCapitalMedicalUniversityhasdevelopedintoaBeijingmunicipalGradeIIIAgeneralhospitalintegratingmedicalcare,teaching,scientificresearch,preventionandhealthcare.
ItisthesecondclinicalmedicalschooloftheCapitalMedicalUniversityandhasfiveresearchinstitutions,includingtheBeijingInstituteofClinicalMedicine,theBeijingInstituteofTropicalMedicine,theBeijingInstituteofIntegrativeMedicine,theBeijingInstituteofClinicalPharmacyandtheBeijingUrinarySurgeryResearchInstituteoftheBeijingMunicipalHealthBureau.
Inthenewera,thehospitalconformstothedevelopmentandchangesofthecapital,basedonthefunctionalpositioningofBeijing's"fourcenters",implementstheBeijingurbanmasterplan,andservestherelaxationofnon-capitalfunctions,forminganewdevelopmentpatternofthe"threedistrictsandone"oftheoutpatientdepartmentsoftheXichengcourtyard,Tongzhoucourtyard,Shunyicourtyard(underconstruction)andtheadministrativedistrictofthesub-centerofthecity,layingthefoundationforhigh-qualitydevelopmentofthehospital.
