Plastic Surgery Department
Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University
The Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Medicine at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, was established in 1983, with a history of over thirty years. Originally founded as the Laser Department, it was one of the earliest specialized departments in China to apply advanced laser technology for clinical surgical treatment.
Through the unremitting efforts of four generations, outstanding contributions have been made in the clinical application, research, and education of laser medicine, producing numerous experts, scholars, and technical personnel, including nationally renowned experts such as Li Junheng, Zhao Shude, and Li Wenzhi.
In 1997, under the direction and leadership of the hospital director, Dr. Li Wenzhi was transferred from the Plastic Surgery Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences to Anzhen Hospital, taking over the Laser Department. The department's focus then shifted from pure laser surgery to plastic and cosmetic surgery and aesthetic laser procedures, resulting in the establishment of the Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Medicine.
After more than a decade of development, the department has achieved significant progress in both infrastructure and expertise, becoming a professional unit integrating medical care, education, and research, with a technical team of nearly 30 members, including experts, doctoral and master's degree holders. The scope of services covers plastic surgery, medical aesthetics, cosmetic laser, conventional laser, and head and neck/hand trauma, encompassing hundreds of procedures.
The department is equipped with advanced facilities, distinctive features, comprehensive treatment options, and exquisite skills. In 2008, thanks to its excellent environment and strong technical expertise, it became one of the first departments in a Beijing Class A tertiary hospital to be recognized as a medical aesthetics department, further elevating its development. Currently, the department offers hundreds of treatment items, primarily including the following:
