General Practice Department

Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University

The Department of General Practice, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, was established in 2009. It is the first department in a comprehensive tertiary hospital in Beijing to provide general practice services. Through recent development, our hospital has become a national standardized training base for general practitioners. The Department of General Practice currently has 12 in-service physicians, including 6 chief physicians, 5 associate chief physicians, and 1 attending physician, with 1 doctoral supervisor and 2 master’s supervisors.
It undertakes multiple research projects including teaching and research projects, National Natural Science Foundation projects, Beijing Natural Science Foundation projects, and Capital Health Development Special Research projects, and participates in several studies on chronic disease management, with over 2 million yuan in ongoing research funding. The department has the highest outpatient volume in the hospital, has an independent diabetes clinic, and has unique insights and comprehensive management of the diabetes diagnosis and treatment model.
The Department of General Practice has a general practice outpatient clinic, a preliminary screening clinic, a diabetes clinic, and a chronic disease management clinic. The scope of diagnosis and treatment includes:
Patients with chronic diseases involving multiple or multidisciplinary conditions, such as patients with comorbidity of chronic diseases with clear diagnoses but poor control (e.g., diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, or other systemic diseases), are treated comprehensively according to the “holistic + continuous” concept.
Patients with complex and diverse clinical manifestations but unclear diagnoses are diagnosed according to the “comprehensive + individualized” concept, and then treated in general practice or transferred to various specialties of the hospital for precise treatment.
The general practice outpatient clinic provides rapid blood glucose testing, rapid glycosylated hemoglobin testing, continuous glucose monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, limb artery measurement, and other examinations, providing more convenient medical services for patients.
