Anesthesia and Surgery Center

The Anesthesia Center (Anesthesia and Surgery Center) of Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, was established in 1984. In 2023, the department was renamed the Anesthesia and Surgery Center. Currently, the department has a total of 244 medical staff, including 86 physicians, 129 operating room nurses, and 29 anesthesia nurses. There are 13 chief physicians and 21 associate chief physicians, with a total of 26 physicians holding doctoral degrees.
The Anesthesia and Surgery Center emphasizes the four basic principles of "safety, quality, efficiency, and order," with scientific management and rigorous operation. In 2023, the annual number of anesthesia cases exceeded 50,000, including over 20,000 cardiovascular surgery anesthesia cases, ranking first globally for three consecutive years. Presently, the department has preliminarily completed the construction of a perioperative diagnosis and treatment system covering the entire life cycle of cardiovascular diseases. As a national standardized residency training base for anesthesiology and a national specialized training base for cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia, the department has provided medical institutions nationwide with anesthesia professionals characterized by Anzhen Hospital's anesthesia features and solid perioperative management capabilities in cardiovascular cases. It has received over 20 million yuan in discipline construction and research funding at various levels. It is a Beijing Municipal Key Clinical Specialty Construction Unit in Anesthesiology and a Public Health Leading Talent Team.
The Party branch of the Anesthesia and Surgery Center insists on making the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era a compulsory course for all Party members and the masses. Through the integration of Party building and professional development, it has formed a specialized talent echelon at different levels including leading talents, professional technical backbones, and young physicians. The Party branch has been repeatedly rated as an "Advanced Party Branch" at the bureau and hospital levels.
