The Department of Nuclear Medicine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital was founded in 1958 and is one of the earliest clinical nuclear medicine departments in my country. In the past 60 years, through the unremitting efforts of several generations of Nuclear Medicine workers at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital has gradually developed into a nuclear medicine medical treatment, research and training center with important influence at home and abroad, making outstanding contributions to the introduction, development and talent cultivation of nuclear medicine in my country. In 1980, Professor Wang Shizhen was elected as the only academic member of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Academician of the Academy of Sciences). In 1981, it became the first unit in China to confer a doctoral degree in nuclear medicine. At present, the department has a professional PET imaging group (PET center), a professional SPECT imaging group, a professional nuclide therapy group, a professional group for in vitro determination, a professional group for radiopharmaceuticals, and a professional group for experimental nuclear medicine research. On average, more than 30,000 routine clinical high-quality imaging examinations are completed annually, ranking among the top in the country. More than 500 patients are treated, and more than 60,000 in vitro testing samples are performed, ranking among the top in Beijing.The department has imaging equipment: 2 PET/MR, 7 PET/CT, 8 SPECT/CT and 1 SPECT, and small animal imaging equipment: 1 Micro SPECT/CT, 1 Micro PET, 1 Micro PET/CT and 1 Micro PET/MR. , radiopharmaceutical generation equipment, 2 cyclotrons, 2 generators (99Mo-99mTc/68Ge-68Ga), 16 sets of positron drug synthesis hot chambers, and 1 radionuclide treatment ward (10 beds). It has carried out more than 80 routine diagnosis and treatment projects, and is one of the departments with the most complete and largest number of nuclear medicine routine diagnosis and treatment projects in China. Many of the diagnosis and treatment projects are the first to be established in China. As a radiopharmaceutical clinical pharmacology base affiliated to the National Health and Family Planning Commission, it is the only unit in China that integrates the research, small-batch preparation and clinical application of new nuclear medicine drugs. A number of important results have been achieved in the design, synthesis, pharmacology and clinical application of new imaging agents for the heart, brain, kidney, inflammation and tumors. It currently has 52 staff members, including 10 senior vocational staff, 6 deputy senior vocational staff, 27 intermediate staff, and 9 junior staff. The staff structure is reasonable.The department has strong teachers and scientific research capabilities. It is a national key discipline and key laboratory. It has a doctoral program, a postdoctoral mobile station and a radiopharmaceutical research and training center assisted by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Undertakes the eight-year undergraduate clinical nuclear medicine course and postgraduate basic nuclear medicine course of China Union Medical College. It is one of the first batch of standardized training bases for nuclear medicine residents of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and a professional training base for nuclear medicine residents in Beijing. The students now trained are all over the country, contributing to the cause of nuclear medicine in our country. It is the first in China to establish a nuclear medicine specialist training module, including 5 major training modules and 14 key contents, to improve professional skills and levels through mixed training. The first public account for nuclear medicine cases to be established in China to share difficult cases and key issues of concern to the profession. A single article has a maximum reading count of 10,000 times. It is the first company in China to establish and carry out OSCE assessment, which conducts comprehensive clinical and practical assessments at 6 major sites. A total of 110 people have practiced in 10 years. The assessment methods and content have been continuously improved at the same time. The relevant results have been promoted by trainee doctors to the nuclear medicine departments of provincial and municipal hospitals. From 2014 to 2024, the pass rate of the first-stage examination for residents in Beijing has been 100% for 11 consecutive years.Many graduate students have won national scholarships. From 2020 to 2021, the hospital ranked first in the hospital’s share of “National Scholarships” for graduate students for two consecutive years. The Department of Nuclear Medicine of Xiehe Union Medical College is a key clinical specialty of the National Health Commission and a Beijing Key Laboratory of Molecular Targeted Diagnosis and Treatment of Nuclear Medicine. The department has basic nuclear medicine and radiopharmaceutical professional groups and full-time scientific researchers, and has advanced scientific research equipment such as MicroPET. There are more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial-level projects under research, and it has participated in more than 10 major projects such as new drug creation, major instrument projects, and public welfare health industry funds. Every year, 2-4 studies are selected as highlight reports at international professional annual meetings. Published more than 50 SCI articles with high impact factors, among which the highest impact factor was 31.777. In the past five years, he has given 44 speeches at SNMMI, CSNMMI, and WMIC international conferences, been selected for highlights 7 times, presented 37 posters, and won 7 international awards, of which 6 won the CSNMMI Young Scientist Award, ranking first in the country in the number of winners.Since the Nuclear Medicine Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital was included in the "Comprehensive Ranking of Chinese Hospital Specialties" by the Institute of Hospital Management of Fudan University in 2014, the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital has ranked first in the country for nine consecutive years. In 2020, it was approved to build a national nuclear medicine professional quality control center, which was officially approved in 2021.
