Rheumatology and Immunology Department

The Department of Rheumatology and Immunology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital was founded in 1980 by Professor Zhang Naizheng, the "Father of Chinese Rheumatology", with the concept of "scientific research as the leader, teaching as the foundation, medical care as the fundamental, platform as the cornerstone, and resources as the future". After nearly 40 years of development, it currently has 21 professors, 10 associate professors (11 doctoral supervisors, 12 master supervisors), 11 attending physicians, 7 full-time laboratory personnel, and an annual outpatient volume of 15 It has more than 10,000 patient visits, 68 open beds, and treats more than 1,200 patients annually. It is nationally recognized as a "diagnosis and treatment center for difficult and critical rheumatic diseases". As the first National Education Commission doctoral/postdoctoral training unit in rheumatology, a key subject unit in rheumatology, a resident physician training base under the Ministry of Health, a national continuing education base for rheumatology and immunology specialists, and a national rheumatology drug clinical trial base, it has been recognized as the Key Laboratory of Rheumatology and Immunology of the Ministry of Education, the National Key Clinical Discipline of Rheumatology and Immunology, the National Clinical Research Center for Skin and Immune Diseases (NCRC-DID), and the Asia-Pacific Alliance Against Rheumatism "Center of Excellence" (APLAR-COE) for the past 9 consecutive years. Won the "Gold Medal Team Award" in the "Bless Life · 2017 Glorious Doctors" selection.The department has been ranked first in rheumatology specialty in the "Ranking of China's Best Hospitals" published by Fudan University Hospital Management Institute for 15 consecutive years, and ranked first in the specialty in "China's Hospital Science and Technology Influence Ranking" for 11 consecutive years.
