北京协和医院内科学系自1921年建院之初即成立，是最早成立的临床科室之一，也是中国现代内科学的发源地。百年沧桑，协和内科始终坚持病人至上的诊疗原则、“三基三严”的治学态度和开拓创新的发展理念，坚守传承内科大查房制度、住院医师培训制度及总住院医师制度，培养出一代又一代医学大师、学科带头人和技术过硬的医学人才。内科从最初的几十人、五个专业组，不断发展壮大，到目前800余人12个专科，包括心内科、呼吸内科、消化内科、肾内科、血液内科、风湿免疫科、感染内科、普通内科、肿瘤内科、老年医学科、内分泌科及MICU。在复旦排行榜中9个专科名列专科排名前十位。
