Accelerated idioventricular rhythm is a common arrhythmia occurring within 24 hours in patients with acute myocardial infarction. It is more common in inferior wall myocardial infarction and often occurs during the bradycardic phase of sinus arrhythmia. Some reports also indicate that it is equally common in anterior wall and inferior wall infarctions. In addition, accelerated idioventricular rhythm is the most common arrhythmia during reperfusion of acute myocardial infarction, with an incidence of 20.8% in patients with vessel recanalization after thrombolysis or PTCA treatment.
