The normal primitive heart tube bends to the right, hence it is called the right loop, placing the right ventricle on the right and anteriorly, while the left ventricle is on the left and posteriorly. If during development the heart tube bends to the left instead of the right, it is called a left loop. Then the anatomical right ventricle is located posteriorly on the left and becomes the systemic ventricular chamber, while the anatomical left ventricle is located anteriorly on the right and becomes the venous ventricular chamber. At this time, the truncus arteriosus still divides and rotates, but the positions are reversed. The main pulmonary artery is located posteriorly on the right, while the ascending aorta is located anteriorly on the left. Although the positions of the great vessels are reversed, the pulmonary artery still connects to the venous ventricle, and the aorta connects to the systemic ventricle, so the direction of blood flow is physiologically corrected; hence it is called corrected transposition of the great arteries. The left and right branches of the atrioventricular conduction bundle are still distributed to the corresponding anatomical ventricles, but since the ventricular positions are reversed, the conduction bundle is also reversed.
