Preexcitation syndrome in the elderly is a clinical syndrome characterized by abnormal atrioventricular conduction pathways as the pathological basis, with abnormal electrophysiological manifestations and a tendency to be complicated by multiple tachyarrhythmias. When excessively rapid tachycardia occurs (especially persistent atrial fibrillation), signs may include palpitations, chest tightness, angina pectoris, hypotension, amaurosis, syncope, and even heart failure, shock, or sudden death.
