Pericardial cyst refers to a congenital mediastinal cyst occurring in the pericardium, also known as mesothelial cyst, paracardiac cyst, pleuropericardial cyst, mediastinal water cyst, or simple mediastinal cyst. The cyst is isolated from the pericardial cavity; if it communicates with the pericardial cavity through a pedicle, it is called a pericardial diverticulum.
