Senile diabetic heart disease

Elderly diabetic cardiopathy (EDC) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes mellitus and is also a common and frequently occurring disease in the elderly. Diabetic heart disease should include coronary heart disease caused by diabetes, diabetic cardiomyopathy, and diabetic cardiac autonomic neuropathy. The incidence and mortality of cardiovascular disease in elderly diabetic patients are three times higher than in non-diabetic patients, with females 1.5-4.5 times and males 2 times higher. Moreover, the incidence of coronary heart disease in elderly diabetic patients is 2-3 times higher than in the normal population.
