Hypothyroid cardiomyopathy
Internal Medicine / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Hypothyroidism (commonly referred to as hypothyroid) is a clinical syndrome caused by insufficient secretion of thyroid hormones, leading to reduced body metabolism. Hypothyroidism can occur in the fetal and neonatal period (cretinism), childhood and adolescence (juvenile hypothyroidism), and adulthood (adult hypothyroidism). Clinical manifestations vary significantly with the age of onset, but the cardiovascular system may be involved to varying degrees, resulting in hypothyroid heart disease.
