Aortic sclerosis

Internal Medicine

Arteriosclerosis is a non-inflammatory lesion of arteries that causes thickening, hardening, loss of elasticity, and narrowing of the arterial wall. There are three main types of arteriosclerosis: (1) arteriolosclerosis, (2) medial calcific sclerosis (Mönckeberg arteriosclerosis), and (3) atherosclerosis. This disease mainly affects the aorta, coronary arteries, cerebral arteries, and renal arteries, causing narrowing or even occlusion of these vessels, leading to impaired blood supply to the organs they serve and resulting in ischemic pathological changes in these organs.
