Primary orthostatic hypotension is a rare disease. In 1925, Bradbury and Eggleston first described in detail the clinical features of this disease as orthostatic hypotension (i.e., a significant drop in blood pressure when suddenly standing from a supine or squatting position), syncope, fixed pulse rate (i.e., no corresponding increase in heart rate upon standing), anhidrosis, erectile dysfunction, and nocturia, and it was called "idiopathic orthostatic hypotension."
