Pregnancy complicated by ventricular septal defect

Internal Medicine / 妇产科

Ventricular septal defect is one of the most common congenital cardiac malformations. The incidence of congenital ventricular septal defect is 2%, accounting for 30% of congenital heart diseases and approximately 10% of adult congenital heart diseases. Physiological changes during pregnancy can aggravate the condition of patients with ventricular septal defect and threaten the life and health of both the pregnant woman and the fetus. Severe ventricular septal defect is unsuitable for pregnancy, and once pregnancy occurs, it should be terminated. Therefore, patients should consult a doctor before pregnancy. Those who cannot become pregnant should terminate pregnancy as early as possible. For those who continue pregnancy, pregnancy complications increase, and enhanced monitoring and perinatal care should be provided.
