Marfan syndrome is caused by congenital factors and has familial characteristics. Some patients have abnormal cardiac development, while others have abnormal cardiovascular development. From a medical perspective, there are obvious physical defects. For example, autopsy of American volleyball star Flo Hyman and Russian figure skater Sergei Grinkov showed that they both suffered from Marfan syndrome, and Grinkov's father also died of the same disease. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Marfan syndrome, also known as spider finger (toe) syndrome, is a congenital hereditary connective tissue disease with autosomal dominant inheritance and a family history. Its main manifestations involve the skeletal, ocular, and cardiovascular systems. Cardiovascular manifestations include hypoplasia of elastic fibers in the tunica media of large arteries, dilation of the aorta or abdominal aorta, forming aortic aneurysm or abdominal aortic aneurysm. When the aorta dilates to a certain extent, it will cause massive aortic rupture and death. The incidence rate is approximately 0.04‰ to 0.1‰.
