Senile sudden cardiac death (SCD) refers to unexpected natural death occurring within 1 hour of symptom onset due to cardiac causes in the elderly. In the United States, the estimated incidence of sudden cardiac death is 200,000 to 400,000 cases per year, accounting for more than 50% of all cardiovascular deaths. After sudden cardiac death occurs, the estimated success rate of resuscitation is only about 20%. Furthermore, it is estimated that 80% of patients with sudden cardiac death do not survive to discharge, and 50% of survivors die within 3 years. It can be seen that sudden cardiac death is one of the major life-threatening causes of death and should be highly alerted by clinicians and patients, with early effective preventive treatment.
