Senile cardiogenic shock

Internal Medicine / Surgery

Senile cardiogenic shock refers to cardiac pump failure caused by various reasons, manifested as a significant decrease in arterial pressure, accompanied by shock signs such as disturbance of consciousness, oliguria, and sweating. It is mostly due to reduction or loss of cardiac (mainly left ventricular) contractile components, or due to impaired cardiac chamber filling, resulting in a sharp decrease in cardiac output and even shock. The early clinical signs of cardiogenic shock are caused by cardiac pump failure, sympathetic excitation, increased catecholamine release, and early hypoperfusion. Manifestations include increased heart rate, ventricular arrhythmias, moist rales at the lung bases, restlessness, pallor, and sweating.
