Approximately 70% of patients with hypertensive eye disease have fundus changes. The positive rate of fundus findings is unrelated to sex but is closely related to patient age; the older the patient, the higher the positive rate. In clinically common hypertensive patients with a chronic course, the positive rate of fundus findings is directly proportional to the duration of the disease. Patients with a longer disease course also have a higher positive rate of fundus findings.
