Hepatic adenoma

Internal Medicine / Surgery

Hepatic adenoma, also known as hepatocellular adenoma (HCA), is a relatively rare benign liver tumor. Its cause may be related to the increased use of oral contraceptives. It has been reported that the incidence in women taking oral contraceptives long-term is (3-4)/10,000, while in women who do not take oral contraceptives or have taken them for less than 2 years, the incidence is only 1/1,000,000. Hepatic adenomas can be solitary or multiple, and biliary cystadenomas may undergo malignant transformation.
