Carcinoid tumor of the gallbladder is a relatively rare endocrine tumor originating from Kulchitsky cells of the neuroendocrine tissue, accounting for approximately 2% of all gastrointestinal tumors. Most patients have a history of acute or chronic cholecystitis. The manifestations include dull discomfort in the right upper abdomen, accompanied by aversion to oily foods, loss of appetite, etc. In rare cases, the tumor may be large or located near the common bile duct, causing extrahepatic biliary obstruction, resulting in obstructive jaundice or attacks of cholangitis.
