Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder with an insidious onset. Clinically, it is characterized by comprehensive dementia manifestations including memory impairment, aphasia, apraxia, agnosia, visuospatial skill deficits, executive dysfunction, and personality and behavioral changes. The etiology remains unknown to date. Cases with onset before age 65 are termed presenile dementia; those with onset after age 65 are termed senile dementia.
