appendiceal parasitic disease
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Traditional Chinese Medicine / 感染性疾病科
Acute appendicitis caused by appendiceal parasitic disease is a common surgical acute abdomen. Many intestinal parasites can inhabit or enter the appendiceal lumen. For example, schistosomal appendicitis is commonly seen in schistosomiasis-endemic areas in southern China. Appendiceal ascariasis is commonly seen in northern China and is one of the complications of intestinal ascariasis. Amebic intestinal disease commonly occurs in the cecum and frequently involves the appendix.
