Neurasthenia

Internal Medicine / Traditional Chinese Medicine / 精神科

Neurasthenia is a type of neurosis, referring to a condition in which certain factors cause long-term tension in brain function, leading to an imbalance between excitation and inhibition of the brain, resulting in a decrease in mental activity capacity. Most cases onset between the ages of 16 and 40, with no significant difference in incidence between males and females. The majority of patients are engaged in mental work. If not properly managed, this disease can persist for several years or even decades. If new psychological factors occur or rest is insufficient, symptoms may reappear or worsen. However, with active and timely treatment by psychiatrists or psychologists, guiding patients to eliminate the cause and correctly approach the disease, this condition can be alleviated or cured, and the prognosis is generally good.
