Internal Medicine

Apricot kernels are both a food and a traditional Chinese medicine. Excessive intake of bitter apricot kernels can cause poisoning, manifested as dizziness, sudden fainting, palpitations, headache, nausea and vomiting, convulsions, coma, cyanosis, dilated pupils, loss of light reflex, weak and slow pulse, and rapid or slow and irregular breathing. If not treated promptly, death may occur due to respiratory failure.
