Primary splenic lymphoma is a rare malignant lymphoma, referring to disease that initially originates in the spleen without involvement of extranodal lymphoid tissue. The spleen itself is a large lymphoid and hematopoietic organ and is often a site invaded by malignant lymphoma, especially in the late stages of Hodgkin's disease. However, primary splenic origin is indeed extremely rare.
