intestinal stricture
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Intestinal atresia and intestinal stenosis are common congenital gastrointestinal malformations causing neonatal intestinal obstruction. They can occur at any site of the intestine, most commonly in the jejunum and ileum, followed by the duodenum, and rarely in the colon. They predominantly affect the elderly, with diarrhea, abdominal pain, malabsorption, and protein-losing enteropathy being common manifestations. Common complications include intestinal perforation and gastrointestinal bleeding, while intestinal obstruction is less frequently complicated.
