Sideropenic dysphagia is a thin diaphragm within the esophageal lumen. According to its location in the esophagus, it is classified into upper esophageal web, mid-esophageal web, and lower esophageal web, among which the upper esophageal web is more common. Most patients with esophageal webs are asymptomatic and are discovered during health check-ups or incidental gastrointestinal contrast studies. A minority may present with dysphagia. Both males and females can be affected, and reports in China are rare.
