Elevated lesion of the gallbladder
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Elevated lesions of the gallbladder, commonly referred to clinically as gallbladder polyps, are benign space-occupying lesions within the gallbladder lumen. Cholesterol polyps are the most common type, and most are asymptomatic. Some patients have only mild upper abdominal discomfort or dull pain. It is generally believed that gallbladder polyps are a predisposing factor for gallbladder cancer. Surgical treatment should be the main approach, supplemented by non-surgical treatment.
