Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a cardiomyopathy characterized by progressive myocardial hypertrophy and progressive reduction of the ventricular cavity, typically involving the left ventricle, especially the interventricular septum, and occasionally presenting as concentric hypertrophy. Its basic pathological feature is impaired left ventricular filling and decreased diastolic compliance, with unknown etiology. It can be divided into obstructive and non-obstructive types according to the presence or absence of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. It is usually inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern.
