Internal Medicine / Traditional Chinese Medicine / 感染性疾病科

Clonorchiasis is a parasitic disease caused by the parasitism of Clonorchis sinensis in the intrahepatic bile ducts of humans. Humans are often infected by consuming freshwater fish or shrimp that are not thoroughly cooked and contain metacercariae of Clonorchis sinensis. Mild infections may be asymptomatic, while severe infections may present with clinical manifestations such as dyspepsia, dull upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, listlessness, and hepatomegaly. In severe cases, complications such as cholangitis, cholelithiasis, and cirrhosis may occur.
