Intramural esophageal diverticulosis is a rare benign condition. It is characterized clinically by multiple, diffusely distributed, 1-3 mm outpouching small cysts in the esophageal wall. It was first described by Mendel in 1960, with subsequent reports in the literature. It is more common in males aged 50-60, but can also affect children and young adults.
