Food poisoning is an acute poisoning disease caused by ingesting food contaminated with bacteria and their toxins, or by consuming toxic animals and plants such as poisonous mushrooms and pufferfish. Spoiled food and contaminated water sources are the main sources of infection; unclean hands, utensils, and fly carriers are the main routes of transmission. According to the various pathogenic agents, food poisoning can be divided into the following four categories: 1. Chemical food poisoning; 2. Bacterial food poisoning; 3. Mycotoxin and moldy food poisoning; 4. Toxic animal and plant poisoning.
