Diphtheritic myocarditis
Internal Medicine / Traditional Chinese Medicine / 感染性疾病科
Diphtheria is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Clinically, it is mainly characterized by pharyngeal tonsillitis and/or laryngitis, the formation of typical grayish-white pseudomembrane in the throat, and toxic symptoms caused by its exotoxin. Severe cases may be complicated by myocarditis, known as diphtheritic myocarditis, which is the most serious complication and the main cause of death in diphtheria.
