Fatty liver, also known as fatty liver disease, refers to a clinicopathological syndrome characterized by excessive fat deposition (mainly triglycerides) in the liver. Currently, fatty liver disease has become the second most common liver disease threatening human health after viral hepatitis in China. Clinically, fatty liver disease is divided into non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcoholic fatty liver disease. With the increasing incidence of obesity and diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease has now become one of the common chronic liver diseases in China. Patients with fatty liver generally have no obvious subjective symptoms, or only mild distending pain in the liver area; ultrasound examination is helpful for disease diagnosis. Treatment mainly involves a reasonable diet, exercise, and adjuvant drug therapy.
