Recurrent ulcer

Internal Medicine / Surgery

Recurrent ulcer refers to a new ulcer occurring at the site of gastrojejunostomy or duodenojejunostomy after surgical treatment of gastric or duodenal ulcers. It is therefore also called gastrojejunal ulcer, jejunal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, or marginal ulcer. Among all recurrent ulcers, more than approximately 95% occur after surgery for duodenal ulcer, while they rarely occur after gastric ulcer surgery.
