Acute gastric mucosal lesions are characterized by varying degrees of erosion, superficial ulcers, and hemorrhage of the gastric mucosa. Those predominantly featuring acute mucosal erosion are termed acute erosive gastritis; those mainly presenting with mucosal hemorrhage can be called acute hemorrhagic gastritis; those occurring under stress conditions with multiple ulcers as the main feature can be termed stress ulcers. This disease is one of the common causes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, accounting for approximately 20-30%.
