gastrointestinal dysfunction
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Gastrointestinal functional disorder is a general term for a group of gastrointestinal syndromes. This disease often has a background of mental factors, with gastrointestinal motor dysfunction as the main feature. In terms of pathological anatomy, there is no basis of organic lesions, and therefore it does not include gastrointestinal functional disorders caused by diseases of other systems. Clinical manifestations mainly involve abnormalities in eating and excretion, and are often accompanied by other functional symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, nervousness, headache, etc. Gastrointestinal functional disorders are quite common, but there is currently a lack of precise statistics on incidence in China. Among various visceral neuroses, gastrointestinal disorders have the highest incidence, most commonly seen in young and middle-aged adults.
