malignant lymphoma of the large intestine
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Oncology
Malignant lymphoma of the large intestine includes primary extranodal lymphoma originating in the intestine and secondary lesions involving the gastrointestinal tract during the course of malignant lymphoma arising from other sites. Primary cases have an insidious onset and lack specific early features, often leading to poor prognosis due to delayed diagnosis and treatment. It preferentially occurs in the terminal ileum and cecum, which are rich in lymphoid tissue, followed by the right colon. The distribution may be localized, but it generally involves a wider area than carcinoma.
