Hairworm disease is a relatively rare parasitic disease. Adult worms live freely in nature and occasionally infect humans. Infection may occur through contact with water or drinking raw water, allowing larvae to enter the human body. In patients with urinary tract parasitism, females are more commonly affected. Due to the mechanical stimulation of the worm migrating within the bladder and urethra, all patients present with urinary tract irritation symptoms.
