Intestinal dysfunction is a general term for a group of gastrointestinal syndromes. It results from disorders of the autonomic nervous system caused by higher nervous activity disturbances, primarily manifesting as dysregulation of gastrointestinal motility and secretion, without histologically organic pathological changes, and does not include gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by other systemic diseases. Intestinal dysfunction can lead to serious problems such as constipation, hematochezia, proctitis, and duodenal ulcers.
