Adult hypertrophic pyloric stenosis

Internal Medicine / Surgery

Adult hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is a narrowing of the pyloric canal caused by hypertrophy of the circular pyloric muscle. The lesion is relatively insidious, and this condition should be considered when there is a stenotic change in the distal stomach. This disease is rare in clinical practice. It is mostly associated with congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, which is not uncommon, accounting for 0.25% to 0.5% of newborn births, with symptoms typically appearing 3 to 12 weeks after birth.
