Gastric ulcer bleeding
Internal Medicine / Surgery / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Gastroduodenal ulcer bleeding is also a common complication of ulcer disease. Small amounts of bleeding often have no clinical symptoms and are only detected by fecal occult blood testing. When blood loss exceeds 500 ml, it constitutes major hemorrhage, mainly manifested as hematemesis, melena, and varying degrees of anemia. Among hospitalized patients with ulcer disease, approximately 10% are hospitalized due to major hemorrhage. Although bleeding accounts for the largest proportion among all complications, its proportion among complications of peptic ulcer has increased in recent years.
