Colonic diverticulosis is a condition in which the colonic wall protrudes outward to form pouch-like structures, which can be single but more often appear as a series of sac-like protrusions from the intestinal lumen. Physical examination of patients is usually unremarkable, digital rectal examination is normal, and electronic colonoscopy can clearly identify simple colonic diverticula.
