Other Salmonella infections are acute infectious diseases caused by various Salmonellae. Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi are often collectively referred to as Salmonella typhi. Although they also belong to the Salmonella genus, due to traditional customs and the distinct pathological changes and clinical manifestations of typhoid and paratyphoid fever, they have been introduced separately. Therefore, other Salmonella infections refer to salmonellosis caused by non-typhoidal Salmonella (non-typhoidal salmonellosis). The main mode of transmission of this disease is through ingestion of meat products, egg products, and dairy products contaminated with Salmonella. Due to differences in the pathogenic bacteria and host reactivity, the clinical manifestations are complex and can be classified into gastroenteritis type, typhoid type, septicemia type, and local suppurative infection type. In addition, it can also manifest as urinary tract infection and asymptomatic infection.
