gastrinoma

Internal Medicine / Surgery / Oncology

Gastrinoma, namely Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, is a clinical syndrome characterized by refractory or unusual peptic ulcers, high gastric acid secretion, and non-beta islet cell tumors. The etiology of gastrinoma is unknown and may originate from alpha-1 cells of the pancreas. Because gastrinomas are more commonly found in pancreatic tissue, less commonly in extra-pancreatic tissues, and the tumors are small, accurate localization of the tumor is sometimes difficult. However, in recent years, with the improvement of B-ultrasound, CT, or MRI diagnostic techniques, favorable conditions have been created for tumor localization. If there is no distant metastasis, surgical resection of the tumor can achieve a cure.
